Ash Meadows
National Wildlife Refuge
"An oasis of life in the desert"

Ninety miles northwest of Las Vegas in Amargosa Valley you will find a wonderful Oasis. Over 22,000 acres of spring fed wetlands surrounded by desert. This National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1984 to protect 13 threatened and endangered species. There are also 24 plants and animals found nowhere else in the world. Because of having a greater concentration of endemic species than any other local area in the United States and the second greatest in North America, Ash Meadows was designated as a Wetland of International Importance in 1986.
