The farm has been used for different types of farming over the years
but it wasn't until 1983 that the potential for a date farm was
realized. The current owners began cultivating the fruit and caring for
the trees that were there. In 1995 they opened for business to the
public with a gift shop and bakery.  Over
200 lbs. of fruit are harvested from September through December. There
are over 800 trees with 25% now producing.
While you are there check out the multitude of cactus in a special area behind the gift shop. This is only one of a few places where you can see so many different plants. After surveying the area stop in the gift shop and try one of their famous Date Shakes. Try a sample of their date bread. And look at those really large cookies. All kinds of wonderful unusual things for gift giving are for sale. Hike one of the many trails. As you can see by the pictures below it is a great place for photographers. Early morning or late afternoon shadows can give you spectacular views for photographing. |
